ALL RAIDERS: Please help our community’s senior citizens by donating new or clean, gently used blankets. The drive is sponsored by our Junior BETA Club. Blankets can be dropped off in Mrs. Vickers’ room (#10). The drive will last through January 31 when they will be donated to Senior Citizen, Inc.

Spring Sports Signups!

Spring Sports Signups are in the main office.  Please sign up by next Wednesday afternoon, January 25.  Here are the sports offered at SCPS and the grades they apply to:

  • Boys Soccer – Grades 6-8th – Tryouts will be held beginning on 2/20/17
  • Girls Soccer – Grades 6-8th – Tryouts will be held beginning on 2/20/17
  • Girls Softball – Grades 6-8th – Practice begins on 2/16/17
  • Boys Lacrosse – Grades 6-8th – Practices will begin on 2/15/17
  • Boys/Girls Golf – Grades 6-8th – Tryouts will be held in March
  • Boys/Girls Track – Grades 5-8th – Practices will begin in March
  • Boys Baseball – Grades 6-8th – Tryouts on 1/25 at 7:00 at Chatham campus high school field
1. Softball will have an informational meeting on February 1 at lunch.  Anyone interested in participating this season is encouraged to attend to speak with Coach Cobb.
2.  All 8th graders interested in playing football next year are invited to workouts at the high school.  Workouts will be MondayThursday from 4:15-5:30.  The players going for workouts may ride the shuttle bus over to the high school.

Snapshots & Happenings

Members of the Student Leadership Council and faculty members from the middle school met with this year’s 5th graders to welcome them to the middle school for next year and to give an overview of the great things waiting for them as they become our newest 6th graders!

 

Ms. Lee, who teaches Ephesians and Learning Support classes, spoke to students at Wednesday’s chapel program about the differences between biblical wisdoms and worldly wisdoms.

Dr. George Lee, pastor of St. John Baptist Church, and Mr. Bill Daniel, Chairman of the SCPS Board of Trustees, visited our campus this week and spoke with students about the recent purchase and future plans for the DeRenne campus. Dr. Lee is shown above speaking to students in Mrs. Fidler’s class.
