We are Raiders!

Each day we live and work for Christ!

Savannah Christian Prep was founded as the Evangelical Bible Institute with eight boarding students in 1951 by the Rev. George and Mrs. Harold Deane Akins. Back in the early years when the school still had boarders, the kitchen always served the best food. At night once everyone had gone to sleep, the students would sneak into the kitchen to grab a late night snack or snag some leftover brownies. From these incidents the administration kept referring to the students as “raiding” the kitchen at night. Everyone on campus referred to them as the “little raiders.” When sports teams came into the picture, we needed a mascot. It seemed fitting to become the Raiders in honor of  all the “little raiders.”

When we added a football team, Coach Bubba Atwood was brought in from Jenkins High, a  local public school. He was put in charge of designing the jersey.  He decided to zero in on the skull and crossbones to use on the jerseys. The rest is history!

Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou Knowest.
