RaiderONE Chromebooks
January 1, 2020, was the beginning of a new year like no other. At the time, we all gave prayerful thought to resolutions, goals, and changes to be made. If you were like me, you were not expecting the course that this pandemic would lead us. We are proud to say that the SCPS community has thrived in a time where many have faltered. We have become stronger together where others have been torn apart. We have joined forces to create a bond that surpasses the strength of any storm. Together we have chosen faith over fear.
In looking to the future, we can no more predict what tomorrow will bring any more than we could have predicted what this new year has brought: however, we can continue to grow and improve from what we have boldly overcome. Last year, our academic team developed a bold vision for the future of technology at SCPS. This redreamed technology plan called for us to move to a 1:1 student to technology ratio by August 2021. To move forward in this new normal, we are initiating a new program called RaiderONE to begin in August 2020.
While we had a vision for the future, we did not know that we would activate this part of the plan as early as this pandemic dictated. With the uncertainty of the future, and to successfully prepare, we are asking you to join with us. SCPS students need a uniform learning platform to be used wherever our children have to be taught, whether on campus or digitally at home. To this end, we are seeking to provide a school-purchased Chromebook for each student, PreK through 12th grade. The benefits of the Chromebook being purchased by the school are that all students will have the same software, access, and security – a uniform tool for teachers to provide instruction on and off the SCPS campus. Once you help the school make the initial Chromebook purchase, the device will go with your child throughout their education at SCPS.
We are asking each family to pledge the cost of their child’s Chromebook to The Fund for Savannah Christian. Your pledge can be paid all at once, or in monthly installments. Savannah Christian understands in the current environment, not everybody can participate. In this economy, many families are stretching just to keep their children enrolled because they believe in our mission. Therefore, if you are able to help, please know your gift would help others in our Savannah Christian community. This is the time for all of us to help each student by any means possible. If you can help, we ask you to join us where you can.
