The 2016 Raider girls’ tennis team had one of the most successful seasons in SCPS history, finishing the regular season with a record of 9-3 and entering the area tournament as the number one seed in the east division. At the area tournament the girls defeated Mount de Sales Academy to advance into the final four and guarantee them a spot in the state playoff. The lady raiders then lost a close match against Stratford Academy and finished fourth in the area. The team later traveled to Marietta to play seven-time girls’ tennis state champion, The Walker School. The Lady Raiders did not win the match, but they beat their opponents in twenty games and took The Walker School’s first doubles team to a tie-breaker. The Lady Raider’s first singles player, Lindsey Dixon was headed towards a comeback win in her second set when she won by forfeit. This year’s lady Raider tennis team set the bar high for the future of the SCPS tennis program.
