Upper School Announcements: 22 January 2017

Engineering Design Challenge Team

 

Our Upper School Engineering Design Challenge Team has begun preparing for their annual engineering design competition to be held at Armstrong University on April 29th! This year fifteen students are working with a project mentor and an ASU engineering student to build a battery-operated go-cart. The team is looking for some parts to assist with their design process. They are in need of tires from motorized mini-bikes as well as lawnmower/golf-cart-like wheels that have a sprocket attachment – where the sprocket is already attached to the wheel.  If you have an old motor bike or lawnmower/golf cart-like wheels that you would be willing to donate to this project and are willing to not have them returned, please contact Upper School teacher, Dana Barnwell at dbarnwell@savcps.com.

 

Summit Conference

 Summit is a  two-week Student Conference  designed to help students (ages 16-22) strengthen their faith, understand their world, and be prepared to make a difference with their lives. Top Christian leaders and thinkers will train students in the classroom while the phenomenal staff team will walk alongside and personally mentor each student.

You can attend a Summit Student Conference Tennessee! If you are interested talk to Miss Brown in room 29.

Summit changes the lives of thousands of students every summer. Act now to save a seat because attendance from SCPS is limited to ten students.

 

Basketball this Week

Raider Basketball will wrap up its regular season home games next week with big Region match-ups starting Tuesday. Boys JV will kick off the night with Montgomery at 4:15pm with varsity girls at 6pm and varsity boys at 7:30pm.

Friday evening the Raiders will host Savannah Country Day.  Senior Basketball players, cheerleaders and wrestlers will be recognized between the girls varsity and boys varsity game. All the action begins at 3:30pm with the JV girls, 4:45 JV boys, varsity girls at 6pm and varsity boys at 7:30pm.

Saturday evening the Raiders will host Claxton with all four teams starting at 3:30pm.

 

Athletic Signing Day

The next Athletic Signing Day for Upper School will be on Wednesday, 1 February at 2:40 PM.

 

Sophomores to Georgia Southern

The Sophomore class will make a College Visit/Tour to Statesboro to visit Georgia Southern University on 15 February 2017.
