Christ in Action
The Barnabas Characteristic for October is Faithful. Romans 12:12 says, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” The definition of Faithful is trustworthy and loyal. We show faithfulness by keeping our promises, trusting in God, telling the truth, telling others about Jesus, and being a friend even when we disagree. Stop by Mrs. Burnsed’s door to learn more.
What’s Coming Soon?
A “Breakfast Book Club” will be starting on October 19th (Wednesday) and will meet monthly. Students in grades three through five are welcome to join and discuss books they have been reading. More information and the registration form can be found on the After School Activities website at www.scpsasap.weebly.com. The club is sponsored by Mrs. Olson (third grade), Mrs. Crosby (Media), and Mrs. Dugas (parent).
Come join Snapology for Lego® Pokemania. Students will build and explore the world of Pokemon as they create their own characters, gyms, battles, and even their very own generation of Pokemon using Lego® bricks. Children will also learn about real world science as they learn about the habitats of the Pokemon. Your child will have a blast becoming the best Pokemon trainer ever. The six-week session begins November 7th for grades 1-5. Visit the After School Activities website at www.scpsasap.weebly.com.
Classroom News
It was a great week in third grade for our Raiders! Homecoming week has them exploring all things pirate! Students made treasure maps with Mrs. Wigand and Mrs. Olson using cardinal directions to lead each other to treasure (there was a writing lesson hidden in there, too). Students wrote pirate stories after reading funny pirate books. Science focused on pirate oceanography and learned pirate math. ARGH!!
Pajama Day didn’t mean learning stopped! Our dedicated teachers used Monday to do special projects and hands on learning experiences. Second grade did “lights out reading” and practiced their spelling words with cool gel inks by flashlight.
