A meaningful Honors Chapel Program in the Eckburg Center occurred just before Spring Vacation. The Easter message was given by Rev. Greg Gillespie, the pastor of Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church and father of two SCPS Lower School students. More than a dozen children were recognized for exemplifying the Barnabas characteristic of Humility. Many others were given certificates for having earned 250 or more points in the Reading Counts program, earning the privilege of a school sleep-over in May. Seventy three percent (73%) of all children in Grades 3, 4 and 5 earned Honors on their report cards for third quarter and were brought before hundreds of parents and students to be recognized! Each child was given a certificate and a bumper sticker that stated, “My Child is an HONOR Student at Savannah Christian Preparatory School.”
