Blue Ribbon Celebration:  A special thanks to everyone who shared in the Blue Ribbon Celebrations in November.  On November 4th the students, faculty and staff gathered for a Blue Ribbon celebration which included a group Blue Ribbon photo and Blue Bell ice cream.  The official Blue Ribbon Ceremony was held on November 29th.  Honored guests included Congressman Jack Kingston, Georgia Senator Buddy Carter, Georgia State Representative Mickey Stephens, the Savannah Christian Preparatory School Board of Trustees and a host of elected officials.  The official Blue Ribbon flag and plaque were presented to the school.

Book Fair:  Thank you so much for supporting the Book Fairs!  Together, the Chatham Parkway and DeRenne Avenue book fairs provided over $2600 in profit and over $1600 in books to both campuses.  Special thanks to each volunteer who helped to make it possible.

Report Cards:  The Second Quarter of the SCPS school year ends Tuesday, December 20th and report cards will come home on Monday, January 9th.
Fifth Grade Basketball:  Under the leadership of Assistant Athletic Director Julie Jones, the fifth grade basketball teams have formed.  There are eight players on the girls’ team and a total of 22 players on the two boys’ teams.  Marshall Wood is serving as the girls’ coach.  The boys have two teams, a Black and a Red team. Doug Hawkins is the coach for the Black Team, and Chip Lane is the coach for the Red Team.  Practice has begun and the first game will take place during January.
Prospective Parent Open Houses:  The Lower School will be hosting two Prospective Parent Open Houses in December.  On Tuesday, December 6th, the Chatham Parkway Campus will host prospective parents at 9:00 am.  The DeRenne Avenue Campus will host prospective parents on Wednesday, December 7th at 9:00 am.  Please share and invite any families that may be interested in hearing all of the wonderful things that are taking place here in the Lower School.

Christmas Band Concert:  The annual Christmas Band Concert will be on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the Eckburg Center.  The Fifth Grade Band, along with the Middle School and Upper School bands, will be performing.  Please come out and support your child and the school’s Fine Arts program.

Class Christmas Parties:  Each class will enjoy a festive Christmas party on Tuesday, December 20th at 11:00 am.  Additional information will be sent home from your child’s classroom Room Parent.  The parties will conclude and school will dismiss at 11:45 am.
Special Thanks:  The Lower School faculty and staff would like to extend a special thanks to all of the parents who assisted and supported the Thanksgiving festivities that were enjoyed by all.  Without parent volunteers and support, these activities could not have taken place.  Again, we thank you.

Barnabas:  The Barnabas characteristic for November/December is Contentment.  In Philippians 4:11-13, Paul tell us…”for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”  May the Lord bless us all as we approach the Christmas season with a heart of contentment and gratitude.
