Savannah Christian Prep’s Upper School Art students in Ms. Dana Richardson’s class participated in the Memory Project for Syrian refugees. This project allowed our students to paint a portrait of a Syrian child who lived in an orphanage or refugee camp from a photograph. These students studied their faces and had the opportunity to pray for that specific child. This project teaches these high school students to put a face to each child caught up in this difficult time in history. These refugee children are more than a number. They are an individual created by God. The portraits were then given to the Syrian children to enjoy and, hopefully, have something to take with them when they are able to return home.
