Savannah Christian Preparatory School is pleased to announce that two our of senior students were recognized with the STAR Student distinction.  Sam Bignault and Sydney Bruns both earned the title of SCPS STAR student as they tied for the highest SAT score among the senior class.  Both students selected their most influential teacher for the title of STAR Teacher.  Sam selected Jan Kelly from the English department while Sydney selected Jackie Wetmore from the Math department.  All four were recognized this week for their tremendous efforts in the classroom.

The Kiwanis club of Savannah and along with energy company Kinder Morgan, Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport Commission, and Smart & Associates, Attorneys at Law named the Chatham County STAR Student and STAR Teacher for 2016. The Star Student was Rebecca Suh, a high school senior from St. Andrew’s High School. The announcement was made at the Kiwanis meeting and STAR Recognition Luncheon at the Savannah International Trade Center. Suh selected Mr. David Kelly as her STAR Teacher.

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition program, now in its 58th year, is sponsored, administered and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation. Since its inception, the STAR program has honored nearly 25,000 students and the teachers they have selected as having had the most influence on their academic achievement. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.

The STAR Student and Teacher will now advance to the Region 8 competition, held at Georgia Southern on March 16th. Region 8 consists of 15+ counties of southeast GA.

The winner of the region 8 competition will be competing on the state level where the state winner will be announced at a banquet in Atlanta, GA on April 18, 2016.
