Third Quarter Spring 2008 Extra Credit

General Information about Unit 7

This is a short unit providing introduction to the subject of organic chemistry. There a single 100-point quiz on the unit scheduled for Thursday, January 31, followed by a lab demonstrating distrillation.

Text Assignment:

Chapter 22 pages 725-727 - Hydrocarbons and Gasoline (supports video Q's)

Chapter 22 pages 697-717 - Alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes
Chapter 23 page 738 - Functional groups
Chapter 24 pages 775-789 - Biomolecules

Yes, it is three chapters, but the material for the unit is not covered in detail. Just the basic identification of the hydrocarbons, functional groups and biomolecules will be quizzed. No reactions will be covered, so you may omit these portions of the chapter assignments.

Please bring your text book to class for January
