Welcome to Chemistry!

Introduction and Class Guidelines

The chemistry course at SCPS seeks to help students build understanding of chemical principles. These principles are extensive in scope and sequential in presentation, preparing a student for success in college chemistry. The goal of this class is to build a conceptual framework through experimentation and investigation while developing study and computational skills necessary to apply concepts in a scientific manner. Students must study rather than simply complete assignments on a regular basis as the concepts build on one another. Students must be involved in class and spend time outside of class preparing for and completing investigations and activities. The tests, lab, and activities of this class assess mastery of content, not effort.

Parents – I check email regularly – dbarnwell@savcps.com . This is the primary means of contacting me.

Also, please feel free to contact the school at 234-1653 to arrange a meeting to discuss your concerns or to request phone contract.
