The ninth Annual Shuler Awards took place April 20th at the Cobb Energy and Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta. Fashioned after Broadway’s Tony Awards, the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards – Shuler Hensley Awards celebrate excellence in high school musical theater.
Savannah Christian Prep School was in the top six of 75 schools nominated in the category of Costume Design, and in the top 10 for Scenic Design for the production, “Cinderella”.
Taking part in this year’s production were Shannon Foley and Nathan Wetmore. As part of the 120 Shuler Ensemble, they were directed by some of the top names in music and dance for musical member theatre. These students opened and closed the show with two exciting numbers, televised live on GPBTV. Prior to their performance, they walked the Red Carpet into the theatre in front of hundreds.
Also participating behind the scenes as Part of the S.T.A.R.(Students Take A Role) Council were Kitri Post and Annie Elton. They helped to keep the night running smoothly from writing thank you notes, reading monitor prompts, Red Carpet check-in, and picture taking at the “step & repeat” at the end of the Red Carpet.SCPS is very proud of how these students “repped the Prep”!
